Meet Pri Yadav

I’ve been making art for as long as I can remember. Like most children, I began creating simply because it felt natural. My mother was my first art teacher, and although I later spent more than five years studying at a design school, much of what I know about painting has come from years of curiosity, experimentation, and simply showing up to make things.

My best work often happens early in the morning, just before dawn, when the world is quiet, and I can follow an idea without overthinking it. Most of my paintings come together rather quickly. I work intuitively, allowing color, shape, memory, and emotion to guide the process.

Some days I make mud. Other days I make something beautiful.

I’ve learned to value both.

The messy paintings often teach me the most. They create fertile ground for the work that comes next and remind me that making art isn’t really about getting everything right. It’s about staying curious enough to see what might emerge.

My Work

I’m drawn to bold color, generous shapes, and the natural world. My paintings move between representation and abstraction, often exploring nature, the female psyche, resilience, and our relationship with ourselves and the world around us.

For me, art is more than expression. It is a way of connecting—with myself, with other people, and with something larger than myself.

I believe what we create carries something of us into the world. If a painting makes someone stop, feel, remember, smile, or begin a conversation, then it has done something meaningful.

Exhibitions, Publications & Teaching

My work has been shown at the San Francisco Art Festival and twice at Coastal Arts League Gallery, and has been published twice in NY Art Magazine.

Teaching has also become an important part of my creative life. I’ve facilitated art groups for hospice patients and seniors, and I currently teach art out of my own studio.

What I love most about teaching is helping people move past the idea that they need to be “good at art” before they can create.

You don’t.

You just need a little curiosity.
